Just got back from Power Tour!   (Archive: GFC - by Matt Hawkins, started: 06-03-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 14:05:41 CET)
I did the first three legs of the HotRod Power Tour with my 3.4l DOHC Turbo Fiero (Nashville, Memphis and Jackson). This was a big leap of faith as I put over 2000 miles on the car. I had never taken it farther than 80 miles from home. I didn't have a single hiccup the entire trip. I got home...

Will a late model aluminum pan fit?   (Archive: TD&Q - by Matt Hawkins, started: 05-24-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 13:41:28 CET)
I am interested in using the aluminum oil pan from a later 60 degree V6. Is there anything that would keep this from bolting up? My exhaust doesn't cross under the car, so the only thing that I could think of that would interfere is the front engine mount. Is the bolt pattern different? Anyone...

Axle length for extension tube?   (Archive: TD&Q - by Matt Hawkins, started: 06-08-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 13:40:25 CET)
So I have put almost 4000 miles on my 3.4l DOHC turbo swap with a Torsen diff installed. As some know, I did a 2000 mile trip for the HotRod Power Tour with no problems. The next day after returning on my way to work, the passenger side axle popped out. I have since taken the axle out and...

Took 3.4l DOHC Turbo to the dyno today   (Archive: TD&Q - by Matt Hawkins, started: 06-29-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 13:38:08 CET)
Well I finally got my 3.4l DOHC turbo car to the dyno today. After tuning with a wideband O2 sensor. I got 280 HP and 325 lb-ft at the wheels. With a 15% loss, that's ~330 HP and 382 lb-ft at the crank. Who said turbo cars don't make torque and are peaky? That torque peak is at 3600 RPM. Not...

Anyone going on the HotRod Power Tour?   (Archive: GFC - by Matt Hawkins, started: 05-26-2003, last post: 2003-11-10 11:32:24 CET)
I will be going to the first few days in Tennessee with the turbo 3.4l DOHC. I am leaving from Michigan Thursday and will do at least the first two days (Nashville and Memphis). Let me know if you are going to be there.Matt

I keep breaking axles....   (Archive: TD&Q - by Matt Hawkins, started: 05-06-2003, last post: 2003-08-19 11:57:13 CEST)
I keep breaking the driver side axle on my turbo 3.4l DOHC. I am using the 282 5-speed equipped with a Torsen. I am up to three so far. The first one was the inner CV. I chalked this one up to the ball cage joint that should have been a tripod. The next two have been broken axle shafts. Both...
